Jee Seo
Jee Seo was born in Incheon South Korea in 1985 and he began his musical studies on the piano at age of five. He started composition studies in his late teens and in 2005, he composed his first piano trio, which was performed at the Ceramic Palace Hall in Seoul, Korea. He graduated in composition studies from the Chung-Ang University in Korea where he was granted a scholarship for outstanding achievement, receiving additional generous support from the Korean Artists Welfare Foundation.
After receiving prizes in competitions in Korea, Jee began his international career and was awarded the 2nd prize at the Val Tidone International Music Competition Egidio Carella Composition Competition in Italy and the special prize at the International Antonin Dvorak Composition Competition in the Czech Republic. His chorale works have been performed frequently in concerts at the Anyang, Suwon, and Daejon Civic Chorales. His instrumental works have been performed at festivals including the Bruno Maderna International Composers' Forum in Ukraine, the International Symposium of New Music in Brazil, and the Hawaii Public Radio Art Song Contest.
Jee is currently residing in Berlin and preparing to move to New York.
